Are you in touch with your intuition? Do you recall when you first experienced that “feeling” of intuition?

Intuition is the ability to understand something immediately without the need for conscious reasoning or proof. Recognizing that a situation you’re about to walk into is unsafe or undesirable can be attributed to intuition – in addition to your other senses.

Have you had recurring thoughts or dreams about a specific subject, person, or incident? Your intuition may be trying to speak to you and call your attention to that subject, person or incident. We’ve all likely been in places where we didn’t feel completely safe – and sometimes, listening to your intuition can be the toughest part of the experience.

I can remember catching the bus home from high school after staying after school for a club meeting. Once I left the school and ended up downtown waiting for my next bus, I felt a bit uneasy about waiting at my usual bus stop. There was no one else around, and as it got darker, there were fewer and fewer cars and buses traveling past the area. I made the decision to walk a little further down the street to a different bus stop that was near a store. The store remained open for a few more hours after my arrival, and I waited near the entrance with a group of other people also waiting for buses.

I made it home without incident but later saw a news story that several people had been robbed or assaulted in the park, and that police patrols in the area had been increased as a result. Was it my intuition that prevented me from becoming another victim? Perhaps – but at the same time, I needed to LISTEN to my intuition and TRUST the message that was being sent to me, and then ACT on that message.

You can intentionally sharpen and improve your intuition – and using the affirmations below will help you get there. Learning to hear your inner voice and improve your level of trust in your own feelings and impressions is a key element of authenticity. Pick one or two of the statements below that resonate with you and one that raises resistance for you. Which affirmations do you find easy to say out loud and to repeat? Which ones are harder? Take note of where resistance or negative emotion rises when you read the affirmative statements – that’s an indicator of an area of your life where you should be open to change, and open to strengthening your intuition.
