Spiritual Direction & Companionship is a contemplative process (one which draws you into stillness) through which an individual examines and explores their spiritual path with a companion trained in deep listening, discernment, and deep reflection.
It's a practice that functions well in a hectic, multi-faith world - it's about helping people become more attentive regarding the presence of divinity/spirit/the sacred, noticing where it is most deeply felt, and assisting the individual in the important quest for meaning, love and identity.
Whether you call divinity God, Spirit, Allah, Tao, the Universe, the Ground of All Being, what is Sacred, or some other term, Spiritual Direction gives you access to a professional relationship where the companion practices deep listening in your spiritual story and walks with you as you explore a deeper relationship with divinity.

What do you talk about in Spiritual Direction?
A Spiritual Director can help you explore and interpret your past experiences with Spirit / the Divine / God (or whatever name you prefer). We provide a safe space to share your innermost thoughts and feelings, your joys, fears, desires, and struggles, and help support, encourage, and accompany you in your pursuit of spiritual growth and answers.
Is Spiritual Direction the same as therapy?
No - Spiritual Direction is growth centered, involves deep listening, and avoids judgment. It's designed to help an individual determine for themselves what will help them grow spiritually. The Spiritual Director is more of a companion than an authority that tells others what to do.
Is Spiritual Direction one-on-one, or can it be conducted in a group setting?
Many Spiritual Directors work one-on-one with clients, with scheduled sessions (monthly or at agreed-upon intervals) and may also offer check-in times between sessions.
Group sessions function a little differently with an emphasis on questions and interactions among the group members and with the Spiritual Director on common subjects.

How Do I Get Started?
- 1Complete the Spiritual Direction Assessment (opens in lightbox)
Prospective clients should complete our comprehensive Spiritual Direction Assessment so that I can get to know you better - including how you find meaning, where you see the sacred in everyday life, and your current contemplative practices and spiritual background. When you return the questionnaire, we'll set up your first appointment. I ask that you allow at least 48 hours between the return of your assessment and your first appointment so I'll have time to review the assessment and prepare for our meeting. - 2Schedule your Assessment Review via Zoom, Skype, or FaceTime
Spiritual Direction services are offered virtually (Zoom, Skype, or FaceTime) and in person (geographic location permitting). Your assessment review will last up to 45 minutes. - 3Evaluation and Discernment
I will ask you to evaluate my services and we will evaluate the professional relationship together to decide if we should continue to work together. You have agency in this process, as do I - both of our experiences are important to the success of the Spiritual Direction / Accompaniment relationship.
