How We Can Work Together

01

Choose A Wedding Date

As soon as you know what month and year you'd like to get married, call or email me - we'll start the planning process and make it as easy as possible.

A deposit is encouraged to lock in a date and time as the wedding season is often busy.

Quick turnarounds are available for military weddings with short timeframes, or spur-of-the-moment ceremonies for couples in a hurry.

02

Plan Your Ceremony

I have sample ceremonies - from short-and-sweet simple ceremonies that express your love in just a few minutes, to more elaborate and formal ceremonies that include Unity candles, Jumping the Broom, custom vows, and more!

We can start with the basic vows found in the Justice of the Peace manual, vows you've heard elsewhere (inspired by a movie, for example) or I will help you write custom vows that reflect your personalities and relationship.

03

Secure Your License & Location

Your marriage license is valid for 65 days from the date of application in CT. You must apply for and receive your marriage license in the municipality where the wedding will take place (not necessarily where you live).

Interested in an outdoor wedding? The Norwich area has some lovely locations that are available for weddings, including parks, fountains, vine arbors, and gardens.

04

Celebrate Your Love

I'll make sure to arrive early for your ceremony or rehearsal, and we'll talk through (and walk through) all your questions before your big day.

You won't have any worries and can just enjoy your ceremony.

I'll take care of sending the completed and signed marriage license back to the issuing authority after your ceremony. For weekend or holiday weddings, The license will be returned on the next business day.

Hi,

I'm Dianne M. Daniels

I love weddings - from the days when I created silk floral arrangements for my nephew and niece's wedding at the family home in Detroit, to taking photos of weddings for friends, I love being a part of a couple's special day. I love people, and I love being part of their happiness.

My liberal religious background (I am a Unitarian Universalist) and my experience helping my husband (also a Justice of the Peace) to perform weddings encouraged me to become a Justice of the Peace (JP). With that credential, I could marry couples who did not have a "home church", whose circumstances prevented them from being married in a traditional setting (i.e. prior spouses still living, as in my case) and I could also perform ceremonies for same-sex couples.

I perform weddings throughout Southeastern Connecticut and have been referred by other JP’s when they’ve had scheduling conflicts. I try my best to customize the vows for each couple – including the ones who call me when they have JUST picked up their license from Norwich City Hall, which is right down the hill from my house.

I love making children and family members a part of the ceremony when possible and am open to helping find beautiful little out-of-the-way places to conduct a quick ceremony on short notice. I also enjoy working with couples who plan out their wedding weeks or months in advance. My first wedding as a JP was a Wiccan handfasting – truly special and amazing.

I feel strongly that if a couple wants to be married – to commit their lives to each other and to make the promise to be together forever – I want to help them do just that. That is my privilege as a Justice of the Peace, and I enjoy every minute of it.
