With so many paths to spiritual awareness, how do you know you’ve found the one that’s right for you?

Personal spirituality is just that: Personal. For this reason, there’s no one-size-fits-all instruction book to take you where you want to go on your inner journey to peace and enlightenment. This also means what works for someone else, even someone close to you like a best friend, parent, or lover might not have the same path you do.

So how do you know when you’ve found the “right way” – the one that fits you despite all your quirks and perfectly imperfect, wonderfully unique personality traits? Check out the 5 clues below:

Clue 1: You Find What “Fits”white jigsaw puzzle pieces on brown marble table

So many spiritual paths have you feeling like you must make compromises to fit in. This leads to feelings of inadequacy and uneasiness. Therefore, it’s PARTICULARLY important to keep looking until you find the one where you truly fit. When you’ve found your spiritual path, your spirit will relax, and you will be at peace with where you are.

Think about when you’ve found actions, places, or people that you resonate with – everything seems easy, natural, and you can be yourself. When you find the right spiritual path for you, it will seem as if you just naturally groove into it – not a lot of second-guessing, not a lot of struggles, and the practice will feel normal, smooth, and rewarding.

Clue 2: You See Patterns in Everything

The right spiritual path will lend itself to coincidence and serendipity. Here is where you start experiencing the magic of where things come together and make sense. The world knits itself together into a big picture, and life seems to be leading you in a purposeful direction.

Psychologist Carl Jung referred to the occurrence of meaningful coincidences that mysteriously occur in life as synchronicity. The key is that the occurrences happen too often to be mere accidents and can be interpreted as a form of powerful confirmation, guidance, or as a sign that you’ve found the right spiritual path. Take notice of the patterns and you may find the answers you seek.

Clue 3: You Find Deeper Meaning and Purposefour red bars

When the path is right, you start figuring out the essential things, including your purpose in life. This knowledge is then used to direct your steps going forward. You may wonder what took you “so long” to realize the answers, and the influence of your spiritual path has the answer to that question.

Information presented with a frame of reference that resonates with you on mental, physical, emotional, and psychological levels presents you with a “tuned in” experience. You’ll experience flashes of insight, confidence in your thoughts and decisions, and feel as if the lights have been turned on and your vision is clearer. Pay attention to these feelings and consider writing them down in your journal.

Clue 4: You Find People on the Same Journey

Conversations with the people you admire will inspire, and you’ll feel an energy in their presence that never drains you or leaves you feeling listless and tired afterward.

Finding your “tribe” – that community of seekers and explorers who resonate with you and your spiritual search, can be exhilarating and confirming.  You’re not alone anymore – you have others who feel as you do, study as you do, and have discovered information that helps with the search for enlightenment and knowledge. Be open to realizing that your “tribe” might not be who you think it will be,

Clue 5: You Don’t Need “Help” to Feel Good

When you’re in the right place spiritually, you stop needing all the artificial stimulants people rely on to feel good,no drugs such as alcohol or drugs. Being high doesn’t compare with the natural high you experience just from being at peace with who you are and the path you’re on. The sense of ease you’ll experience and the certainty that you’re in the right place will also help boost your endorphins.

It seems simple – but finding your spiritual path can take time, effort, and cause you to stretch and grow beyond your current boundaries. The journey doesn’t have to be physically dangerous but letting go of preconceived ideas and prior training regarding your spirituality is a challenge. Opening your heart and mind to new possibilities will push you to let go of your notions of who you are and what the truth of your life is. Be open to the exploration, stretch your boundaries (but again, remain safe), and don’t rush the journey.

Once you find your spiritual path, things will really start clicking into place. You’ll find you have direction in your life and a feeling of contentment that was lacking beforehand. This is you striving to become the finest you possible. Welcome to the journey!
